Visa, Passport and Consular Services   *

 

            The Consular Wing of the Embassy of India in Cairo, located at 37, Talaat Harb Street, Downtown, is open from 08:30 AM to 11:30 AM on all week days except on Fridays and Saturdays. 

 

            The functions of the Wing can be divided into three broad categories:

 

(a)                                         Visa Services,

(b)                                         Passport Services, and

(c)                                         Consular Services

 

 

            (a)        Visa Services:

 

            Persons interested in applying for visa to visit India are required to fill out an Application Form, available at the office, giving all the information asked for in the application.  The application must be supported by the applicant’s passport and two recent passport-size photographs and any other document relevant to the type of visa applied.

 

            The application should preferably be submitted in person but can be submitted by others also on behalf of the applicant. When considered necessary, applicants can be asked to present themselves at the Consular Section, for personal  interview.  Visas are normally issued and passports returned the following day between 14:00 hrs to 15:30 hrs.

 

            Foreigners, who are not Egyptians and permanent residents in Egypt, have to wait up to three working days before they are granted visas.

 

            The following visa fee is accepted in local currently only.

 

            i)          Transit Visa                                          -           LE 17.00

            ii)        Visa valid up to six months                    -           LE 240.00

            iii)        visa valid up to one  year                      -           LE 390.00

            iv)         Student visa                                        -           LE 240.00

            v)        All visas with validity between one        -           LE 390.00

                        to five years

            vi)       Tourist visa (minimum six months)        -           LE 240.00

 

New Visa Rules :

 

 

(a)        3 months validity visas have been done away. Now onward all visas will be valid minimum for a period of 6 months starting from the date of issue. The visa fee for 6 months validity visas will be LE 240/- for all nationals except US passport holders who will pay US$ 20/- in addition to regular visa fee as processing charges.

 

(b)        Businessmen and frequent travelers can apply for Jumbo passport booklets containing 60 pages. The rates are as follow:-

 

(i)   Ordinary passport containing 60 pages valid for ten years LE 120/-

 

(ii)   Jumbo passport containing 60 pages  LE 250/-
