The Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC), in cooperation with Egypt-India Friendship Association, organized a lecture titled “India-Egypt Relations: Challenges and Opportunities” by Dr. Mostafa El Feki, Chairman, Foreign Affairs Committee of the Egyptian Peoples Assembly on Monday, February 22, 2010 at 6 p.m, at the Centre’s premises Dr. Mostafa El Feki’s personal and professional connection with India goes back to the early 1980s when he served as a diplomat in the Egyptian Embassy in New Delhi. The Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC), Embassy of India, Cairo celebrated the International Students Day on 21 January 2010 at its premises at 23, Talaat Harb Street, Down Town Cairo. As part of this festival, the Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC), celebrated the International Students Day by organizing a reception at the Centre’s premises in honour of Egyptian scholars who have studied in India. Visit of a Goodwill Delegation of Indian Parliamentarians to Egypt

As a part of the Parliamentary exchanges between India and Egypt, a Goodwill Delegation of Indian Parliamentarians visited Egypt from 15-18 January 2010. The Indian delegation led by H.E. Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal, Hon’ble Minister of Parliamentary Affairs & Water Resources of India. The delegation also included H.E. Mr. V. Narayanasamy, Hon’ble Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs & Planning of India and seven Members of Parliament. The Hon’ble Members of Parliament represented both the Houses of Indian Parliament (Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha) as well as a wide cross-section of political parties of India. During their stay in Egypt, the Indian Goodwill Delegation of Parliamentarians had meeting with H.E. Dr. Ahmed Fathi Sorour, Hon’ble Speaker of the People’s Assembly & H.E. Dr. Moufeed Shehab, Hon’ble Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs. Apart from Parliamentary matters, the bilateral issues as well as the international developments of mutual concern discussed during the meetings

World Hindi Day

The Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC), Embassy of India, Cairo celebrated the Vishwa Hindi Diwas or World Hindi Day on 14 January 2010 at its premises at 23, Talaat Harb Street, Down Town Cairo. Hindi, the official language of the Republic of India, is spoken by a majority of Indians and is considered the third most widely spoken language in the world. Hindi is spoken not only in India but all over the world wherever people of Indian origin have settled down. Further, with the increasing popularity of Indian, particularly Hindi films, Hindi has become a familiar language to many non-Indians. Since 2006, to propagate the use of Hindi abroad, the World Hindi Day is celebrated by Indian Missions the world over

Visit of H. E. Mr. Prithviraj Chavan, Minister of State of India for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions to Egypt

H. E. Mr. Prithviraj Chavan, Minister of State of India for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, paid an official visit to Egypt from 10 to 13 January 2010 at the invitation of H. E. Mr. Ahmed Darwish, Minister of State for Administrative Development of the Arab Republic of Egypt. H. E. Mr. Chavan accompanied by a delegation comprising senior officials of the Government of India. H. E. Mr. Chavan hold discussions with H. E. Mr. Ahmed Darwish, focussing on sharing of perspectives and experiences as well as the means to activate cooperation between India and Egypt in the field of Public Service delivery, capacity building and skill up-gradation and e-Governance. During his stay in Cairo, H. E. Mr. Chavan is also called on H.E. Dr. Hany Mahfouz Helal, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research
