India seeks to benefit from the Egyptian experience in the field of energy
India asked for the Egyptian experience in the field of generating electricity from new renewable energies. During his talks with his Indian counterpart Jairam Ramesh, the Minister of Electricity and Energy Dr. Hassan Younis discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field of electricity and energy, especially to develop and promote the use of renewable energies. Egypt seeks to benefit from the Indian experience in manufacturing electric tools and equipments, the Minister said pointing out that the Indian side has participated in a number of current electricity projects.
During the meeting, the Minister reviewed with his Indian counterpart Egypt's future plans to provide electricity for various development purposes by 2027, pointing out to the current electricity link projects.
Steps have been taken by the electricity sector to develop and promote the use of renewable energies and prepare solar and wind energy atlases in Egypt, Younis said pointing out that the wind power capacity of current installations amount to 310 megawatt. There is a strategic plan to take the capacity of energy generated from renewable resources up to 7200 megawatt representing 20% of the generated electricity by 2020, he added.
