Egyptian-Indian cooperation
The Indian Minister of State for Commerce and Energy confirmed the importance of cooperation between Egypt and India in all fields stressing the fact that the Indian investments in Egypt will increase from $ 700 million to $ 4 billion during the coming three years in view of the projects proposed by the Indian side in the field of railways and generating energy from the wind.
These statements were given during the meetings of the Indian Minister with Dr. Ahmad Nazif, the Egyptian Prime Minister, the Ministers of Trade and Industry, Investment, Finance, IT technology, Transportation, Electricity and Energy on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum held in Sharm El sheikh.
During his meeting with the Egyptian Minister of electricity Dr. Hassan Younis, the Indian Minister agreed with him that the Indian company of Bhiharat will provide Egypt with energy transformers to be fixed in the electricity grid run by the Ministry of Electricity with the assistance of Indian experts. The two Ministers agreed to probe the potentials of cooperation in the field of generating electricity using wind power. The Indian Minister offered a grant of $ 10 million to the Egyptian Minister of Transportation to be used in concluding the technological and economic studies necessary for establishing a railway between Egypt and Sudan.
