India offers to contribute to establishing a railway linking Egypt and Sudan
The Minister of Transportation Eng. Mohammed Lotfi Mansour said over the next 10 years investments of L.E. 20 billion will be pumped in the railway sector. Following his meeting with the Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry Jairam Ramesh, Mansour said it is time to establish major projects between Egypt and India and to benefit from the broad Indian experiences in the fields of IT and manufacture of railway anti-collision devices.
Ramesh said there is a great potential for cooperation between Egypt and India in the field of manufacture of anti-collision devices for domestic use in Egypt and regional marketing in the neighbouring countries. He pointed out that his country is willing to link Egypt to neighbouring countries via railways. Offering a grant of $10 million, India is ready to pay for a feasibility study for extending a 500-km long railway between Egypt and Sudan, he said.
