Wipro to set up development centre in Egypt

Egypt's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has said that Wipro will set up a global development centre in Cairo's Smart Village.Wipro Technologies and Egypt's Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has signed a memorandum of understanding supporting Wipro to establish an IT services development centre in Cairo's 450-acres business park for IT and Telecom companies, Smart Village.

 

Rajat Mathur, Chief Executive of Business Solutions and Head of Middle East and Asia Pacific regions for Wipro said: "Wipro has always been focused on Middle East as a region and localization in this region is one of the key strategies for growth this year. This development centre besides strengthening Wipro's dominance in the region would also give a thrust to Wipro's Global Delivery Model."

 

Wipro started its operations in Middle East in 2001. Today it has operations spread across Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Some of Wipro's customers in the region include Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority, Metal, Dubai eGovernment, Qatar Petroleum, Bahraini Saudi Bank, Future Communications Company, Kuwait, Doha Bank, PetroRabigh, SASREF and Saudi Polyolefins Company among others.
