“India Week” at Zagazig University

The Embassy of India in Cairo and the Zagazig University are jointly organising
an “India Week” from 16 to 19 May 2010 at the premises
of Zagazig University.
The event will be jointly
inaugurated on Sunday, 16 May 2010 at 1100 hrs by H. E. Councilor
Yehia Abdel Magid, Governor
of Sharqiya Governorate; Dr.
Maher Al Domiaty, President, Zagazig
University and H. E. Mr. R. Swaminathan,
Ambassador of India to Egypt.
The week long
festival will include a talk on India-Egypt relations by Ambassador R. Swaminathan, a
separate interaction session with the students from the Institute of Asian
Studies of the University; a photo exhibition titled, “India-Egypt: A
Photographic Retrospective” and display of books on and related to India at the Indian
pavilion which will also exhibit a variety of Indian tea and spices. Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture, the cultural wing
of the Embassy, will be organising a yoga demonstration cum workshop on 18 May 2010 and
screening of Indian Feature Films with Arabic subtitles daily during the
festival.
The
programme also includes interaction with the members
of the Sharqiya Chamber of Commerce to discuss
potential opportunities for promoting bilateral economic and commercial
cooperation.
