Visit of Indian Chemical Industry [CAPEXIL] delegation to Egypt
A trade
delegation from the Chemicals and Allied Products Export Promotion Council of
India (CAPEXIL) led by Mr. S. Sengupta, Deputy
Director, CAPEXIL is currently in Egypt to explore
avenues for increase in commercial exchanges between India and Egypt. The
delegation represents 12 Indian companies in the sectors of granite
and natural stones, ceramic and sanitary wares
as well as non-mineral products such as auto tyres,
tubes and related products including auto belts and other rubber and stationary
products.
The delegation is holding a Buyer Seller Meet at
Ramses Hilton at 1800 hrs on 27th July, 2010 and another BSM at
Alexandria Chamber of Commerce on at 1100hrs on 28th July, 2010. The delegation had a very successful visit in December, 2009 to Egypt and
had fruitful discussions with Egyptian businessmen. Now the CAPEXIL delegation is following up
again to identify areas where they could cooperate in mutually beneficial ways.
During the year 2008-09, India exported granite and natural stones
worth over 1.4 billion USD. Exports of
auto tyres and tubes from India were over 700 million
USD. Other items of exports dealt with by the members
of visiting delegation also attract significant interest given their price
competitiveness while retaining the high quality standards.
Egypt has
traditionally been one of India’s most important trading partners in the
African continent. During the year
2008-09 India was 12th largest source of Egyptian imports while
India ranked 5th in the list of top target countries of Egyptian
exports. The governments and the business communities in India and Egypt are working
closely to promote the dynamism in bilateral economic relations. The visit of
the CAPEXIL delegation is part of the efforts to expand commercial and economic
relations between India and Egypt.
