International Students Day
The Maulana Azad Centre for Indian
Culture (MACIC), Embassy of India, Cairo will be celebrating the International
Students Day on 21 January 2010 (Thursday) at 5.30 p.m. at its premises at
23, Talaat
Harb Street, Down Town
Cairo.
In
order to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana
Abul Kalam Azad, the first Education Minister of independent India and the founding President of the Indian
Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), an International Students Festival
called “Friendship through Culture” is organized every year by the Government
of India both in India
and abroad.
As part
of this festival, the Maulana Azad
Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC), Embassy of India, Cairo
will be celebrating the International Students Day by organizing a
reception on 21 January 2010 (Thursday) at 5.30 p.m. at the Centre’s
premises in honour of Egyptian scholars who have
studied in India.
Ambassador R Swaminathan and First Under
Secretary of State for Higher Education, ARE H.E Prof Mohamed Gaber Abou Ali will grace the
occasion.
Educational
exchanges are an important aspect of the bilateral relations between India and Egypt and we have a long and rich
history of such an exchange. Students from all over Egypt
have gone to India
to study not only humanities but also science and engineering. Similarly,
students from India have
come to Egypt
from time immemorial to study at the famous Al Azhar university as well as other prestigious institutions.
