The Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) of India organizes an Engineering Exhibition in Cairo
[Cairo fair Grounds, 23-26 November 2006]
The Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) of India is organizing, in collaboration with the organizers of MACTECH 2006, an Indian Engineering Exhibition, INDEE Cairo 2006, as part of MACTECH 2006 being held at the Cairo Fair Ground from 23-26 November, 2006. Over one hundred Indian engineering companies are participating in the exhibition. INDEE Cairo 2006 will showcase Indian engineering capabilities in different sectors. The exhibition will cover a wide spectrum of the Indian engineering industry, including industrial plant and equipment, electrical equipment, automotive engine and transmission parts, machine tools and hand tools, medical and scientific equipment and instruments, pumps and motors, packaging machinery and pharmaceutical machinery, among others.
India has a strong industrial base, powered by the third largest pool of trained technical manpower in the world. A decade and a half of liberalization has stimulated a tremendous response from the Indian private sector and entrepreneurial class, which has made India one of the fastest growing economies in the world in the last few years. Indian engineering exports are expected to touch US$ 20 billion this year. Engineering product exports constitute 20% of India’s total exports. Equally important, India’s experience in industrial development is perhaps more relevant to fellow developing countries, especially in the case of small and medium enterprises. SMEs are well-represented among the Indian companies participating in INDEE Cairo 2006.
Egypt with its unique geographical position and access to convenient shipping routes is increasingly becoming one of the most attractive destinations for Indian goods and investment. With the ongoing economic liberalization and reforms in Egypt, the potential for enhanced cooperation between the two countries has increased considerably. The presence of a number of Indian joint ventures in Egypt, which are doing very well, has set an example for several others to follow.
INDEE Cairo 2006 will provide an exposure to the Egyptian business community of Indian capabilities in the engineering industry. The event is expected to contribute to the strengthening economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries covering trade and investment as well as technology transfer.
