A painting exhibition titled "Red Lilies" at the Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture

Within the framework of its various cultural activities, the Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC) is organizing a painting exhibition titled "Red Lilies" by Dr. Eman Osma from July 9 to 20, 2006, at the premises of the Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture at 23, Talaat Harb St, Downtown, Cairo.
The paintings will express the artist's thoughts and ideas dealing with human feelings and problems and try to present them in different moods such as anger, sorrow, happiness… etc. The artist took the woman as a primary model in most of her paintings, and presented many facets of a woman's life, her relationships, her feelings and dreams, her peace and agony, her relation with men and women. Dr Eman is a plastic artist, who graduated from Faculty of Fine Arts, Graphic Department, and has been working in the fields of graphic art, painting from wood and metal plates, advertising, animation, illustration, specially, in child books and painting and drawing, using oil and water colors. Dr. Eman belongs to expressionist school, using the human figure, and symbols such as leaves, keys, flowers and looking eyes. Arabic calligraphy forms an important part of her paintings or the prints, even if they are not understood or legible. Her expression, in most of her works, is marked by quite a bit of seriousness, motion, emotion and contrast in colors, which gives her a special style in her works and special place among the artists.
