Press Release No. 82
7 December 2006
Visit of Indian Business Delegation to Egypt
As part of efforts towards the broadening and deepening of bilateral commercial and economic relations between India and Egypt, a delegation of Indian manufacturers producing diverse products such as medical disposables, building materials, costume jewelry and stationery items are visiting Egypt from 8-13 December, 2006.
The visit is being organized by CAPEXIL, the Chemicals and Allied Products Export Promotion Council of India. The delegation will host a Buyer – Seller Meet and a Reception for interested Egyptian businessmen in Cairo on December 10, 2006. The delegation will also visit Alexandria to interact with their counterpart companies, trade organizations and associations in these sectors.
Bilateral trade between India and Egypt has more than doubled in the first eight months of the current year to cross the figure of US$ 1,200 million from the level of US$ 546 million in the first eight months of 2005. While bilateral trade balance is overwhelmingly in favour of Egypt, visits such as that of the CAPEXIL delegation can expand the scope of bilateral trade and open up opportunities for Egypt to source quality products at competitive prices from India.
