March 13, 2006

New Delhi: The Indian technical textile market is likely to touch US$ 8 billion by 2007-08 from the present level of US$ 4 billion, according to projections by Business Coordination House (BCH), an association for boosting the nascent technical textile industry in India.

As per the projections, the global turnover of the technical textile industry is estimated at $107 billion.

Recently, along with a consortium of select international companies, BCH had held an international symposium to provide a platform for interface between Indian and foreign companies to know about raw materials base, application technology and know-how for technical textiles, particularly for medical and hygiene disposable textile products.

The world leaders who organised this event, which evoked widespread interest from Indian stakeholders, included Fulflex, BBA Fiberweb group, GDM, Huhtamaki, 3M and Henkel. These companies made presentations on a wide variety of products they could offer to India.
