Ranbaxy launches anti-diabetes drug in India

Mumbai : Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd., launched its anti-diabetes product Voilx (Voglibose) in dosages of 0.2 mg and 0.3 mg tablets in the Indian markets.

 

Voglibose is indicated for improvement of postprandial (aftermeals) hyperglycemia in diabetes mellitus only when exercise or oral hyperglycemic drug does not result in adequate glycemic control, a company statement said.

The avoidance of high postprandial blood glucose level is one of the main advantage of drug, it said.

 

"Volix further expands Ranbaxy's strategic diabetes portfolio and reiterates the Company's commitment to strengthen and build on its existing diabetes franchise," Ranbaxy Regional Director (India and Middle-East), Sanjeev Dani, said.

 

In July 2005, Nihon Pharmaceuticals Industry Ltd., (NPI), a joint venture between the company and Nippon Chemiphar Ltd., (NC) had launched Voglibose tablets under the brand name, Vogseal in Japan.
