King Abdullah wants India as an observer at OIC

New Delhi, Jan. 23, 2006 : Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah has said India must be made an observer at the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) and Pakistan, which has been blocking New Delhi's entry in the grouping, should move the resolution to this effect.

"I do believe that India can play a role in Organisation of Islamic Countries and I believe that it will be very beneficial if the application of India could be put forth by a country like Pakistan," King Abdullah said in an interview with NDTV, which was recorded in Riyadh.

He said India could play a role just like Russia in the grouping.

"I do believe that India can play a role in such an organisation, just like Russia does. Russia has an observer status in OIC," he said.
