Indian Minister of State for Commerce and Power visits Egypt

    Minister of State for Commerce & Power of India, His Excellency Mr. Jairam Ramesh, is visiting Egypt from 18-21 May 2008.  During the visit, His Excellency Mr. Jairam Ramesh will represent the Prime Minister of India at the World Economic Forum Middle East Summit on 18-19 May.  Subsequently, on the bilateral leg of the visit, Mr. Jairam Ramesh will call on and have talks with several Egyptian cabinet Ministers, including Their Excellencies Eng. Rachid Mohamed Rachid, Minister of Trade and Industry, and Dr. Hassan Ahmed Younes, Minister of Electricity and Energy.

2.         A high-level delegation including senior officials from the Ministry of Commerce & Industry of India and top executives of Indian companies representing the railways, power, oil and gas, and tea sectors are accompanying H.E. Mr. Jairam Ramesh.  The Minister will preside over a Business Meet-cum-Tea Tasting event on 20 May 2008.

3.       The visit of His Excellency Mr. Jairam Ramesh to Egypt closely follows the highly successful visit to India of His Excellency Eng. Rachid Mohamed Rachid, Minister of Trade and Industry of Egypt last month, and will help sustain dynamism in the growing economic and commercial relations between India and Egypt.
